Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today

Scientists and teachers, business leaders and policy makers, and officers for the 美国陆军. USM and its Army ROTC program prepare students to be innovators and leaders 21世纪. We produce lieutenants for the active Army, the National Guard, 和美国陆军预备队. Each component has 16 branches that cater to multiple interests, including infantry, military intelligence, aviation, engineering, armor and medical 服务队. Warriors wanted, each with a breadth of perspective who:

  • Demonstrate a capacity for excellence
  • Confident they will be competent Army leaders because of the rigor of the program
  • Committed to the Army for the duration and open-minded about further service

When you become part of the Army ROTC, you're not just working toward a diploma, but an even brighter future as a leader alongside other motivated Cadets.

Our courses develop individual leadership and group problem-solving skills, plus you get to experience the out-of-classroom labs that get you adventuring outdoors including: Rappelling, rifle marksmanship, obstacle courses, and land navigation. 简约 students can also participate in adventure training in airborne, air assault and mountain 战争训练学校.

The high school Four-Year Scholarship is for high school students planning on attending 四年制大学课程. You can also recieve a 3-year Advanced Designee scholarship, which means that your scholarship money wouldn't kick in until your sophomore year.

Vienna to Venice at Bennett Auditorium

The Symphony Orchestra continues its musical voyage with music rooted in Vienna and Venice. Southern Miss’ double bass professor, Dr. Marco Machado, joins the orchestra for virtuosic Nine Variants on a Theme of Paganini by Frank Proto. Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusic, an audience favorite, continues the journey. Two outstanding trumpet soloists, Dr. 摩尔博士. 沃克, will close the concert with a rousing performance of Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets and Orchestra. This brilliant work features the virtuosic and heroic sounds characteristic of Vivaldi’s music.

24-Hour Veterans Memorial Wall Vigil at Veteran's Memorial Park

每年, USM's Air Force ROTC Honor Guard begins a 24-hour vigil at Veterans Memorial Park to honor all who have died while serving in the armed forces. On 11月ember 9, starting at 11:00 a.m., 学员们将开始守夜, where they will read the 173 names of Hattiesburg natives listed on the park's pillars. The event will conclude on 11月ember 10 at 11:00 a.m., when the city's Veterans Day Parade kicks-off.

Three-Minute Thesis Competition at Joe Paul Theater

The 10th Annual Three-Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), 澳大利亚. 3MT® competitors are asked to explain their thesis or dissertation in a three-minute presentation; effectively communicating the complexity of their topic and research to a non-academic audience.
